A Reunion of Musical Souls: Bengal Classical Music Fest opens with fervor

Supriya Das, a promising Bengal Parampara artiste of khayal, was the penultimate performer of the night. She rendered a melancholic Raga Malkauns and a thumri set on Raga Desh. Supriya's style of murki and raagdari was fascinating. She captivated the music lovers with her elaboration of the raga especially in the vistar part and taan performance. Prashanta Bhowmik accompanied her on tabla and Gourob Chatterjee was on harmonium.

As a new venture, Supriya Das joins Yamaha Music School of Yamaha Music Bangladesh as a Vocal Strength Instructor. She has planned the curriculum and class modules in a very systematic and constructive way. She is looking forward to the best outcome of this project.

After her performance at Bengal Classical Music Festival Dhaka 2014, she got blessings from her Guru Pandit Ulhas Kashalkar. She performed Raag Ananda Kalyan and Kafi.

Classical Concert at Jahangirnagar University

The district festivals of Celebrating Life have begun this year, starting off with a Classical Concert at the 'Selim Al Din amphitheater' at Jahangirnagar University on 13th February 2014. This is the first time in the cultural history of the University of 42 years that something like this was organized. The concert was very well received by the students, teachers, and local community, who not only stayed late in the cold of the night under the moonlit sky to enjoy live classical music, rather kept requesting the organizers to keep going. The performers drew from the audience's energy, until closing the curtains at 3.30 am.
Along with other notable musicians, Supriya Das performed Raag Nand & Bhoopali.

Raage Anuraage Panchakabi
A Musical CD
Supriya has released a musical CD named 'Raage Anuraage Panchakabi' with her three Guru sisters Sharmila Majumder, Priyanka Das Tithi & Barsha Majumder from Laser Vision Bangladesh in 2015. It is a collection of some songs of five versatile legends of Bangla music & literature (Rabindranath Tagore, Kazi Nazrul Islam, Atul Prasad Sen, Dwijendra Lal Roy & Rajanikanta Sen) commonly known as Pancha Kabi with blending of corresponding Raaga of those songs.
